Under its innovative Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy, Kia has unveiled its first electric vehicle, the PV5, during the 2025 Kia EV Day held in Tarragona, Spain. The PV5 is a mid-sized car-derived van (CDV) designed to redefine flexibility, space, and functionality for a variety of users. This new model represents Kia’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup and addressing the diverse needs of modern consumers.

The Kia PV5 is set to make its debut in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2025, with pre-orders anticipated to begin in the first half of the same year. Following its initial launch, the PV5 will be introduced to additional markets in 2026, allowing a broader audience to experience its innovative features. Between 2025 and 2026, Kia plans to roll out various conversion models, catering to different customer requirements and preferences.
At the core of the PV5 is Kia’s E-GMP.S platform, a specialized battery-electric skateboard architecture that facilitates modular body variations. This unique design allows the PV5 to serve multiple purposes, including freight delivery, passenger transportation, and specialized customizations for businesses and individuals alike. The PV5 is highly versatile, offering three primary body styles: passenger, cargo, and chassis cab, making it an ideal solution for both personal and commercial use.
The PV5 comes equipped with two options for NCM batteries—51.5 kWh or 71.2 kWh—providing customers with flexibility in terms of range and performance. The cargo variant features a 43.3 kWh LFP battery option, paired with a 120 kW front motor that delivers 250 Nm of torque. This combination enables the PV5 to achieve a remarkable range of up to 400 km on a single charge, with a fast-charging capability that allows users to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
In addition to its impressive performance and versatility, the PV5 also boasts an advanced infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS, which supports over-the-air (OTA) updates. This feature ensures that the vehicle’s software remains current, providing users with the latest enhancements and functionalities.
Moreover, the PV5 incorporates Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, which allow customers to power external equipment directly from the vehicle. This practical feature enhances the utility of the PV5, making it an excellent choice for those who require additional power sources for tools or devices during work or leisure activities. Overall, the Kia PV5 exemplifies the brand’s forward-thinking approach to electric mobility, combining cutting-edge technology with user-centric design to meet the evolving demands of the market. As Kia continues to innovate within the EV space, the PV5 is poised to become a significant player in the electric vehicle landscape.
